The Vision $ Background $ Awards $ Board of Directors $ Pledges
James Hurley, W-SR science teacher since 1973 and a finalist for Iowa Teacher of the Year 2000, received the Presidential Award in June 1999. Rather than spending the funds on specific equipment or self-development activities, Mr. Hurley has elected instead to commit the entire $7,500 award as a seed to establish a trust to serve students and educators within the Waverly-Shell Rock School District.
Leaders in the communities of Waverly and Shell Rock have a vision of a long-term, self-sustaining and perpetual fund growing to $1 million through the contributions and efforts of the following groups:
Waverly-Shell Rock is a tobacco-free facility, as per district policy. Use of tobacco is prohibited at all district locations and district-sponsored events.
