Waverly-Shell Rock CSD begins strategic planning process

  • The Waverly-Shell Rock Community School District has initiated a strategic planning process to develop a comprehensive roadmap for the district's future. This process, guided by a diverse planning team and facilitated by consultants from TeamWorks, will occur in phases over the next several months, with broad community and stakeholder engagement at its core.

  • The process will include assembly of a planning team that broadly represents district staff, administrators, and other Waverly-Shell Rock stakeholders. Community partners with close ties to the district will participate in the initial phases of the process, helping us to develop a historical perspective of our district as well as identifying past successes to revisit.

  • Focus groups will be organized for middle and high school students, staff at all levels (elementary, middle, and high school), and parents/guardians. Each group will include approximately 25-30 participants and last 90 minutes, offering an opportunity for valuable input about the daily experiences they hope the district will consider. 

  • Stakeholders will also be surveyed to understand their daily experiences and vision for the district. (Note that this is different but related to the communications survey that was recently conducted.) A detailed plan for the district’s operations and governance will ultimately be created, reflecting feedback from surveys and discussions.

  • The school board and leadership team will be heavily involved in key stages, particularly in governance and developing a three-year work plan. The plan will align district initiatives and school/department projects for continuous improvement over the next three years.

  • Meetings will take place regularly, with significant planning milestones scheduled between October 2024 and April 2025. The entire process, from initial planning to the final strategic roadmap, is expected to be completed by the fall of 2025.
