Third and Fourth graders at Southeast Elementary participated in the Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC)! NLMC is a problem solving contest with the goal to encourage students to develop their thinking abilities and inspire excellence in math.
All students received a certificate for participation. The top 50% of students in the nation at each grade level earn the Honorable Mention ribbon and certificate and the top 10% of students in the nation at each grade level receive the National Honor Roll medal and certificate. Additionally, the top scorer of each grade level team receives the Team Winner medal!

"We're poets and we didn't know it!" 2nd Grade WIN wrapped up their poetry unit by sharing their amazing work with one another!
2nd graders in Mrs. Tucker’s and Ms. Moore’s WIN group have spent the last couple of weeks designing, organizing, and creating their own board game as part of our unit on functional texts! Today students from each class got together to play their game with a partner!
They turned out great and it was fun seeing the kids use their imagination!
Ms. Heather from Bremer County Conservation visited with the Kindergarteners today. They learned all about different types of fish and their habitats.

Kindergartners at Southeast are working on their multi-media snowmen. They used ink daubers, watercolor paints and tempera cakes to create these adorable snowmen.
Third grade 100th day fun!
Happy 100th Day of School! Southeast students had a school wide scavenger hunt. Staff hid 100 W-SR logos around the school. Students that found a logo were then entered into a drawing for prizes. The students and staff had a blast today!
2nd graders are having fun exploring pointillism during WIN time after reading “The Incredible Painting of Felix Closseau”! Students used q-tips and paint to create a picture using only dots! Check back later for finished products!

Kindergarten students learned all about data collection today from Mr. Buttjer, a design engineer at John Deere. They made balloon rockets and measured how far they traveled.
It was an exciting morning in first grade WIN. Students practiced digraphs using our 95% Curriculum.
