This just in....we have a North Ridge Elementary Read-A-Thon update!!! Congrats on a job well done Go-Hawks!!!

Heading into the final day of the North Ridge Elementary Read-A-Thon, here is an update on the minutes read by our kindergarten through 4th grade students! Way to Go, Go-Hawks!!!

North Ridge Read-A-Thon update. Keep up the great work Go-Hawks!!!

Third grade enjoyed exploring one of the Waverly Health Center's ambulances. The EMTs and paramedics taught us all about their careers.

Have an awesome Friday Go-Hawks!!! These turkey friends welcomed us today at North Ridge. They were just north of Mrs. Troyer's 1st grade classroom. Gobble Gobble.

Mrs. O'Neill from the Middle School introduced North Ridge students to the orchestra instruments. Each 4th grader got to try out a violin or viola. Even Mr. Parker got to try! We are all excited for the new opportunities in Middle School!

Ms. Thorn's class is enjoying their first day of our school Read-A-Thon with PJs, lots of snacks, comfy spots, and lots of books 📚 Even Mrs. Baskett came to read with us 😊

Mrs. Willms' Kindergarten Class has been learning about the weather and seasons in science. One of our lessons focused on bird nests and why birds make their nests in the springtime. Then students got to gather their own items to make a nest for their bird and eggs. 🪺

4th graders have been learning about the regions of the United States in an "Amazing Race", and today was the finale! Students put all they learned together for some culminating challenges, AND got to try some delicacies from each region!

Thank you to everyone for your support of our school and the pizza fundraiser!

Cup stacking has been a hit in gym class! Students have been working on their hand eye coordination and reaction time through their work with Speed Stacks. Some of our kindergarten students have been working on their own as well!

2026-2027 School Calendar Approved
At the February board meeting on 2/9/26, the Waverly-Shell Rock Board of Education approved the proposed calendar for the 2026-2027 School Year. The calendar can be viewed at this link: https://aptg.co/fy46sJ

Congratulations to our awesome Student of the Month Go-Hawk Leaders for the month of January! Way to step up and represent Habit 4: Think Win-Win! Way to go, Go-Hawks!!!

Third graders got in some fraction practice before the Super Bowl with a football themed trail mix recipe. Not only did they have to determine what fraction of a cup of each food item to add, but then they had to split their mix equally between their groups. Way to go, team!

We have some outstanding volunteers at North Ridge. Today, we want to highlight and thank Mr. Palmquist. In addition to being an AIM mentor, Mr. Palmquist was here today talking with Ms. Bagnall's 4th grade class about NASA. The class had read an article in Phonics about the DART program with NASA. Mr. Palmquist is a retired teacher and comes once a month to share about topics the class is learning about. The class was excited about the topic!

The 100th day of school was a pretty amazing day at North Ridge Elementary! We have some additional pictures to share, although an awesome thing our students did was sharing a 100 reasons why they love North Ridge Elementary. Thanks for a great day kids!

Who do you have winning the Super Bowl? The Seahawks or Patriots? The North Ridge Library staff is encouraging our students to "Huddle up with a good book," during Super Bowl week. As part of the excitement, each student has the opportunity to pick their Super Bowl winner this week. So far it looks like an even split at North Ridge between the Seahawks and Patriots.

Pizza, Pizza...Not sure what to make for dinner during Parent-Teacher Conferences on February 24th and 26th? We are here to help! We are partnering with Chad's Pizza to offer 15 different frozen pizza offerings that can be picked up at North Ridge during conference times both days. In addition to being great tasting pizza, it is for a great cause. $5 of each pizza sale will go to the North Ridge Elementary Parent Group to support the Leader In Me program at North Ridge. All pizzas need to be purchased ahead of time online and picked up on either February 24th or 26th. Thank you!

Our students are very excited about the art they have been creating this winter at North Ridge. At each grade level the students have their artwork displayed around the school for everyone to see.
