Our Community Flyers page is a central hub for non-profit and community organizations to share educational and extracurricular events with W-SR families and staff.

Information for Community Organizations
Organizations wishing to share educationally-based programs or events with W-SR families and staff must seek prior approval before posting.
How to Submit: Email your flyer and request to communityflyers@wsr.k12.ia.us for submission guidelines and approval requirements.
Review Process: Requests are reviewed by district administration in accordance with W-SR Board Policy No. 903.5-R1 (Distribution of Materials).
Note: The Community Flyers page is intended for informational purposes only. The inclusion of flyers does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation by the Waverly-Shell Rock Community School District. Teachers will continue to communicate directly with families regarding classroom news, homework, and grades through traditional channels such as Infinite Campus.

CKLA is designed to help students grow as strong readers and writers by pairing important foundational reading skills, such as phonics and decoding, with rich lessons in history, science, literature, and the world around them.
One of the strengths of CKLA is that students are not only learning 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 — they are also building the background knowledge and vocabulary that help them better understand what they read.
This program was piloted in several W-SR classrooms last year, and students in those classrooms showed amazing growth. We are excited to expand this work across the district and look forward to watching our students continue to grow as confident, capable readers.
