2nd graders enjoyed a beautiful day with a field trip to Cedar Bend park!
The third graders had the opportunity to visit the Grout Museum District's "Museum School." During this four-day experience students were treated to a wide array of subjects. They explored the lives and histories of pioneers and Native Americans within the region. They were treated to a Planetarium show in the Norris Corson Family Planetarium. They did experiments to test their hypothesis, and tasted Jonny Cakes (a favorite snack for pioneers traveling the open plains) while learning about milling, the first industry of the Cedar Valley. They learned and discussed the rich history of immigration and migration to the area, as well as the important history of Black Americans in Waterloo. They also honored the service and sacrifice of Iowa's service members in the Sullivan Brother's Iowa Veterans Museum through an interactive tour. It was a great educational experience!

They worked on important math concepts like tally charts, writing fractions, and comparing fractions while also enjoying some tasty Lucky Charms cereal.
