Last Friday was all about celebrating our wonderful boss, Mrs. Westendorf, for Boss's Day. We truly cannot thank you enough for the incredible impact you’ve had on our lives. You’re so much more than a boss — you’re a leader who inspires, a mentor who guides, and a supporter who always believes in us. Your kindness, strength, and encouragement make every day brighter and every challenge easier to face. Thank you for leading with both your heart and your wisdom. We’re so grateful for you today and always.

Halloween is near but our kids have nothing to fear. There’s nowhere safer to be when Super Cooper leads story-time in the library!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to snag your Gold Hawk Merchandise and also, to those who joined us for our first annual Coffee at the Curb!

A special shout-out to our friends at Get Roasted for keeping us caffeinated this morning and to all the volunteers who helped make it happen.

We hope you’re feeling fueled up and ready to cheer on the Hawks for a Go Hawk victory tonight!

It was exciting to visit Mrs. Adam's fourth grade class as her students learn explored the concept of energy. They were able to explain their learning by sharing that energy is transferred through collisions. It is always so exciting to see their curiosity and thinking in action!

Learning About Human Bodies! 🧬 Mrs. Lee's first graders continued their exciting exploration of the human body's major systems! We were delighted to welcome Nurse Claire to the classroom for a hands-on activity reinforcing our unit on the Skeletal System! Students discussed how our bones provide support and protection for our vital organs. The children had a blast creating their own hand "X-rays" to see their skeletal framework in action. 🦴 We're also busy learning about other amazing systems: • Circulatory System (The heart and blood vessels that move blood around the body.) • Muscular System (The muscles that help us move.) • Nervous System (The brain and nerves that help us think and sense the world.) • Digestive System (How our bodies break down food for energy.)

✨ Fable Olympics in Mrs. Lee’s Class! ✨ Today, Mrs. Lee’s class wrapped up their fables and folktales reading unit with a fun and engaging “Fable Olympics.” Students competed in hands-on activities that helped them review the stories they read, practice key vocabulary, and reflect on the morals behind each tale. The events included: • The Maid and the Milk Pail – Students balanced a bucket from one end to the other. Moral: Don’t count your chickens before they’ve hatched! • The Goose and the Golden Egg – Students carefully transported their golden “egg” from the nest to a basket. Moral: Don’t be greedy! • The Fox and the Grapes – Students jumped to reach the grapes. Moral: Don’t be a sour grape! • The Tale of Peter Rabbit – Students raced to avoid being caught by “Mr. McGregor.” Moral: Always listen to your mom! The students had a wonderful time bringing these classic stories to life while strengthening their understanding of the important lessons each tale teaches.

As part of the Day of Caring on September 11, Prairie West students collected cereal to support our local food banks. We celebrated with a domino train of cereal boxes through Prairie West — a fun visual of how one act of giving can lead to another. Thank you to our students who are discovering the message of giving – not for applause or attention, but simply to make a difference in the lives of others.
